Attendance Choices

Day Classes

Day classes are held three days a week from 9am-4.30 and 9am-5.pm once clinic starts You may choose either Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday or Wednesday Thursday Friday, or Thursday Friday Saturday. In addition to class room attendance a further 4-6 hours a week is required for theory learning and assessment tasks. An additional day is occasionally required for elective classes but you are advised well in advance.

The first 6 months involve face-to-face teaching in the class room, completing all units including elective units. At the end of 6 months, the same 3 full days are spent in our own professional skin care training clinic or an Urban Spa skin care centre for a further 5 months to ensure what you have learnt in the classroom is applied to industry standards in the real work environment (structured workplace learning).Wednesday Thursday Friday class will have half the class doing clinic on Monday Tuesday Wednesday, and half on Thursday Friday Saturday.

During this time several units pertaining to on-the-job skills, e.g. communicate with customers, are delivered and a formal lesson is held each day to revise other units and their performance at workplace level.

NOTE: Structured workplace learning is not paid and is part of a student’s training requirements. Students are permitted to obtain work experience in other salons but only in addition to Academy clinic requirements. 450 hours of clinic time at the Academy, or an Urban Spa salon (with Principal’s permission) must be completed before graduation.
