Who are we?
The Urban Day Spa is a family business, established in Sydney in 1980.
Originally Suzanne’s Home of Beauty at Baulkham Hills, the business enjoyed unparalleled success in the beauty industry, with 4 more family owned salons opening within a few years.
Adapting to changing market needs, the company name changed to Emma’s Secret in 1990 and became known as a market leader in professional skin and body treatments.
Due to increasing public demand for Australian made skin care products focussing on protection from the harsh Australian environment, Emma’s Secret in conjunction with Australia’s top cosmetic chemists, created its own line of products
Based on natural ingredients and aromatherapy, Emma’s Secret products provided real solutions to premature aging, teenage skin problems and skin sensitivity and received huge public acceptance.
In 1980 The Australian Academy of Beauty and Spa Therapy was established. This first class training facility for those looking for a career in Beauty Therapy. The Academy is Vetab accredited and nationally and internationally recognised, and has provided the foundation for many of Australia’s top beauty therapists and businesses.
Now with two locations throughout Sydney, the Australian Academy of Beauty and Spa Therapy provides essential training support and staff for all franchisees.

How do I start?
- Please complete the expression of interest form at the end of this information and submit to us.
- Discuss the proposal with your lawyer and accountant
- Obtain finance if necessary and provide us with evidence of finance
- We help you find the perfect location at the lowest possible rental. We help negotiate terms and conditions, trading hours etc.
- You then pay a non refundable deposit of $5,000 to enable plans to be drawn up and submitted to council.
- On council approval, our franchise agreement is signed and the balance of money payable is due before progression to building.
- We guide you through business name registration, company registration, book-keeping set up and taxation and superannuation requirements and set up.(additional cost according to accountant)
- We have architectural plans drawn up and submit them to council
- Shop fit out commences
- Advertising for staff begins
- Training of staff in procedures, and product knowledge
- Workplace agreements prepared for staff
- Eftpos and credit card set up
- Telephone and Internet set up
- Stocking of salon including equipment supplied, stationary etc
