AABT5022 Advanced Laser IPL & Dermal Therapies

The AABT5022 Advanced Laser IPL and Dermal Therapies course has been specially designed after extensive consultation with industry experts to ensure graduates have the required skills and knowledge to not only perform great beauty and facial treatments  but also  work with laser and IPL equipment upon graduating and be able to perform a range of Dermal Therapy and Laser hair reduction treatments.

It is important to note that to be employed in the industry, it is important to  have a Diploma of Beauty Therapy in addition to laser qualifications as  there are little to no jobs for a graduate without all the required skills.

Aspiring beauty therapists will learn to safely apply intense pulsed light (IPL) and cosmetic laser techniques for hair removal treatments and skin care, making them valuable assets in laser clinics and beauty salons.

Laser hair removal and dermal therapy treatments are in high demand in today’s modern salon and this course will ensure that the therapist is able to perform the treatments safely for both the client and themselves. The curriculum includes units of competency that cover pulsed light and laser technologies, emphasising relaxation techniques to enhance the client experience.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who have specialised knowledge to design and safely apply IPL and laser to reduce unwanted hair on the face and body and to safely perform a range of Dermal Therapy and Skin Rejuvenation Treatments. The learning experience is enriched by practical hours in our Laser/ Dermal clinic, guided by our fully qualified Trainer and Assessor.

This specialised training is pivotal for those aiming to excel in laser hair removal courses and dermal therapy treatments, which are increasingly sought after in contemporary beauty salons and laser clinics.

The course satisfies the requirements for a laser safety licence in Western Australia, Queensland, and Tasmania. Classes are held at Bella Vista, Rockdale, and North Strathfield, providing a comprehensive attendance schedule.

Please Note:

Prospective students sometimes express a desire to focus solely on laser and dermal treatments, showing little interest in traditional beauty treatments.

However, leading cosmetic salons have consistently emphasized the importance of a comprehensive beauty background alongside laser training. This dual expertise not only enhances the skill set of practitioners but also significantly broadens their job prospects.

Industry feedback highlights a scarcity of positions for individuals lacking proficiency in general beauty treatments.

Ensuring that our graduates secure employment upon completing their training is a top priority for us. Therefore, all applicants for this course must either hold or be in the process of completing a Diploma of Beauty Therapy.

Attendance requirements

Semester 1- Classroom

• 10-day block for face-to-face theory and practical application (one day a week for 10 weeks)
• Self-paced study continuing and completing theory component online and with your trainer’s assistance

Semester 2 – Clinical 

•  150  practical hours in our Laser/ Dermal clinic under the guidance of our fully qualified Trainer and Assessor.
•  For those already working in the industry 50 of these hours can be completed externally under suitably qualified supervisors
•  We train on the best Candela, Derma Pen Australia and Adena equipment.

Prerequisites 

Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who:

• Have completed or are enrolled in the SHB50121 Diploma of Beauty Therapy
• Have completed SHBBINF002 Maintain infection control standards

OR

• Have relevant experience in the application of knowledge in human biology, anatomy and physiology. (e.g Bachelor of Dermal Sciences)
